4 Tips on How to Effect Discipline in Your Life

As Jim Rohn says “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment." Discipline in life is a very important factor in order for us to be successful in life. It is the foundation of goodness in our hearts, thoughts and character. Here are some tips on how to properly acquire it.

1. Control your emotions by disciplining your thoughts. Project affirmative thoughts when fear arises over the outcome of any project. Reverse negative thoughts immediately. Alternative thoughts constitute controlled emotions.

2. Be patient. Impatience is a sign of immaturity. You would not dig up seeds to see whether they were growing. Cultivate ideas and desires, execute them and patiently await the fruits of your labor.

3. Work-out a step-by-step plan for each goal. Take one project at a time and complete it. You can only move effectively in one direction at one time. You can think only one thought at a time. Don't take on too much at once. Discipline yourself  to the accomplishment of one task before moving on to the next.

4. Keep a written record of your goals, and of your progress. Whatever need to be done, do it. Don't put off the important things to fiddle with trivialities. Discipline yourself to get the job done, in the shortest possible time. If you have to write an article, a book, prepare a speech, a sermon, dig the garden, paint the house, sell the car, call on tough prospect, do it.
